In his own words

John Demos in the studio
John Demos in the studio

The reason I like making it art, it’s a challenge, it’s expression, it’s more than real life. I love to look at art, and I spend a long time looking at art, and I like making art because it’s the way that I function. The reason that I like print making is because it is a very big challenge, it’s like a turning point in my art.

(Quote from video by Josh Charles).

One of my art teachers looked at me in class and “Oh my god!” she said because in my pocket I can have brushes and palette knives, I can have pencils, watercolours, at the bottom there’d be coloured chalk, some oil pastels at the bottom, maybe a piece of wood, and she said “Oh my god”, she said to me she said “John, you’re a walking studio”.

(Quote from Philosophies, audiovisual composition by John Demos with Louise Kate Anderson).

I wake up at four o’ clock in the morning. One foot hits the ground, and I say, “Can I do this today?”.
By the time the other foot hits the ground, it’s not “Can I do it today?”, it’s — I’m off and gone.
